I am very much interested in painting the non-tourist side of Maine, its people and rural culture. There is much about my paintings that is documentary. But I am also interested in capturing the effect of light and intense color. To that end I have been pursuing plein air landscape this summer, painting, doing sketches and taking photos. I hope to have enough material to continue in this vein after the weather drives me back into the studio.
